Holistic Massage at the Wantage Natural Therapy Centre

What is Holistic Massage

Research continues to underline how vital touch is to both our mental and physical well-being and it’s cathartic power to promote emotional as well as physical release. As a consequence, the medical community is now embracing progressive massage treatments which are becoming a fundamental part of hospice care and are currently incorporated into many hospitals to assist post-operative recovery.

The benefits of massage are wide-ranging including easing depression and anxiety, lower back pain, physical fatigue and stress, improving circulation and encouraging an overall sense of well-being.

TESTIMONIALS

'I am a competitive track and cross country runner in my 50′s and have had a lifelong battle with biomechanical problems. I started having McTimoney chiropractic treatment about six years ago. After having several intensive sessions initially, I now find that Tony’s monthly treatments keep me in order. The McTimoney chiropractic treatment suits me with its holistic approach and Tony’s expertise means he is able to control my migraines as well as realign my body (pelvis, back and shoulders in particular). He is well trained in sports injury management and he is able to treat the recurring muscular problems I get when I am training hard.'

Gwyneth H, Wantage

'I was recommended to see Tony four years ago during a period of severe back pain. Tony’s advice and treatment over the last four years has improved my posture and flexibility and perhaps even more importantly helped me to understand how to look after myself day to day.'

Sharon Geoghegan

Sharon has been a successful massage therapist since 2016, after a career in dancing and hospitality management, Sharon became a mother and made the choice to retrain in Massage Therapy. Since training Sharon has been working in London at a Chiropractic clinic until moving to the lovely market town of Wantage in summer 2022.

Her natural route to massage has come from a passion for helping people, often treating her friends and colleagues in dance college. Sharon trained at The London School of Massage and is qualified in Sports Massage Level 3, as well as therapeutic, deep tissue and pregnancy massage.

Sharon constantly reads around her love of anatomy and continues her studies to further develop her own understanding of the human body; and to help others work in a mindful way to promote healthier joints, muscles and improved posture. In January 2020 Sharon attended an ‘Anatomy Trains’ course, focusing on fascia and the connectedness of the whole body. She is also undertaking online learning with Tom Myers on the ‘science of stretch’, as well as studying Pilates for scoliosis.

Alongside being a soft tissue therapist, Sharon also teaches Pilates. Her passion for teaching Pilates has been borne out of her love of dance. Pilates has been fundamental to her professional dance training since the age of 16, ensuring a career free of injury.

Sharon offers valuable and individually-tailored stretching and strengthening exercises to help with posture and reducing back pain.
