Chiropractic at the Wantage Natural Therapy Centre

What is Chiropractic

Chiropractic is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculo-skeletal system. The treatment works using spinal manipulation or adjustments.

McTimoney Chiropractic is a relatively gentle and holistic method of adjusting the bones in the body to maintain the correct alignment of the spine. Chiropractic care can relieve pain and discomfort, increase mobility and provide a route to better health. Chiropractors use only their hands to make adjustments and the key to the McTimoney approach is the speed and accuracy of the adjustments.

Chiropractic can help with a wide range of problems, including:

Back neck and shoulder problems

Joint, postural and muscular problems

Leg pain

Sports injuries

Headaches

Chiropractic is also a successful preventative therapy, and when used in this way can greatly improve bodily health and well being and many patients are now receiving maintenance care in order to prevent minor problems becoming greater. Chiropractors are also skilled at giving advice on posture, working, driving and sleeping positions and exercise.

We have three McTimoney Chiropractors here at the WNTC, please scroll down below to read more information about each of them.

Tony Dixon

My approach to treating any patient is to listen carefully to what they have to say and take a detailed patient history before conducting appropriate orthopaedic and neurological tests to arrive at a clear diagnosis and treatment plan

My overall guiding principle is to do the very best I can for each individual patient.

I trained at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and graduated with an honours degree in 2005. Since then I have developed a particular interest in soft tissue treatment and use a sports massage technique known as Soft Tissue Release along with standard massage modalities to stretch and release tight muscles and ligaments.

Since qualifying as a chiropractor I have also trained in the following areas

  • Myofascial release
  • Muscle energy testing
  • Kinesiology Taping
  • Gait analysis

I am also very interested in the bio-mechanics and function of the foot and its effect on the rest of the musculoskeletal system and can supply off the shelf Orthotics to correct the most common foot problems.

I am a keen cyclist, occasional golfer and would be tennis player.

TESTIMONIALS

'I am a competitive track and cross country runner in my 50′s and have had a lifelong battle with biomechanical problems. I started having McTimoney chiropractic treatment about six years ago. After having several intensive sessions initially, I now find that Tony’s monthly treatments keep me in order. The McTimoney chiropractic treatment suits me with its holistic approach and Tony’s expertise means he is able to control my migraines as well as realign my body (pelvis, back and shoulders in particular). He is well trained in sports injury management and he is able to treat the recurring muscular problems I get when I am training hard.'

Gwyneth H, Wantage

'I was recommended to see Tony four years ago during a period of severe back pain. Tony’s advice and treatment over the last four years has improved my posture and flexibility and perhaps even more importantly helped me to understand how to look after myself day to day.'

Whilst studying to be a Chiropractor Katie worked as a self employed Driving Instructor. As well as working at Wantage NTC, Kate also practices at Garsington, Oxford and is a member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association.
