Sports and Remedial Massage

This therapy combines traditional massage with soft tissue manipulation techniques and remedial exercises to help prevent and treat injury. Massage is traditional, non-invasive, low risk and holistic, as it works to support the natural healing processes of the body.

Who is Sports & Remedial Massage good for?
Anyone! Reduce aches and pains brought on by postural, occupational and lifestyle factors such as repetitive strains, driving, working on computers and at desks. Alleviate tension headaches, pain in neck, shoulders and forearms, and back pain.

Massage therapy is aimed at enhancing performance by:

  • Increasing circulation

  • Identifying early onset of potential problems

  • Improving self awareness

  • Promoting relaxation

  • Helping with minor soft tissue injuries by breaking down scar tissue and adhesions.

Phil Richards

   
 

Phil Richards, trading as body-sync, has professional qualifications in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy, Personal Training and Triathlon Coaching. He believes that considerable benefits – physical, emotional, physiological – can be gained by anyone who takes part at whatever level in an active pastime or leisure pursuit.

After spending nearly 20 years in educational publishing, he took the opportunity to develop his other interests and his aim is to help those who are taking on challenges and help them achieve their goals and ambitions.

An active triathlete since 2000, Phil competes regularly and coaches with Oxford Triathletes. He works in and around Oxfordshire, from Banbury where he helps with Banbury RUFC, to Wantage at the Natural Therapy Centre.

Qualifications
- BTEC Diploma in Sport & Remedial Massage Therapy
- Active IQ Certificate in Personal Training
- 1st 4 Sport Certificate in Triathlon Coaching

Supplementary to these are an RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, and St John Ambulance Activity First Aid.

Professional body memberships
- Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM)
- Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)
- Sports Coach UK (The National Coaching Federation)

With these qualifications I can offer an extended skill-set ranging from a personalised annual training programme, to specific strength and conditioning work, technique and skills instruction, and sports & remedial massage therapy.

Costs
Sessions are 1 hour long and cost £36. 
Follow up appointments are for one hour, or 30 minutes at £20 if appropriate for specific treatment
