Reflexology
and
Meridian
Therapy
Reflexology
is an ancient method of massaging the feet that encourages
balance and harmony in the body so that it can heal itself.
Meridians
are pathways of energy that link all of the body’s organs,
glands and systems. All of these pathways travel through either
the feet or hands.
When
we are unwell or stressed these pathways can become blocked,
preventing the body from working normally. By stimulating the
reflexes on the feet and hands the therapist can help to clear,
balance and harmonise the body’s organs, glands and systems.
Reflexology
can also improve and increase circulation, stimulate the immune
response and help the body to maintain its natural equilibrium.
It is
a very safe and entirely natural therapy that is deeply relaxing
and very pleasant to receive and can be successful in treating a
wide variety of disorders including:
-
Stress
related disorders
-
Hormonal
imbalances
-
Circulatory
problems
-
Migraine
-
Sleep
disorders
-
Back
problems
-
Digestive
conditions
-
Skin
conditions
-
Mood
related disorders
-
Fertility
issues
Reflexology
is also equally used as a preventative therapy or simply for
relaxation and well being.
The treatment.
On the
first visit a detailed medical history is taken. Following this
the patient is asked to lie back on a reclining chair and the
treatment begins on the bare feet. It feels similar to massage.
Some areas of the feet may feel sensitive or gritty and this can
be an indication of congestion or imbalance within the body. The
treatment lasts an hour and the patient generally will be left
feeling a sense of well being and deep relaxation.
It
is important to note, after each session, how the body responds
as each individual’s response will differ. Reflexology opens
up the energy pathways and cleanses the body and can stimulate
some strong responses. The therapist will discuss these with you
at the treatment but in general all are positive responses. It
is important to drink lots of water after each treatment to
flush any released toxins out of the body. The symptoms last
from a few hours to a day at the most.
