Wantage McTimoney chiropractor,
Tony Dixon, advises taking time to prepare for
increased activity so as to avoid overstraining
muscles. He suggests some simple ideas such as:
·
Do some gentle
stretching to get your muscles loose and healthy
so they put less strain on your joints
·
Begin with
gentle exercise – gardening, walking, swimming
and cycling, initially in moderation, will
reintroduce your body to a greater level of
exercise
·
Drink more
water and fluids to make sure you are well
hydrated – we spend a lot more time in dry,
heated environments over the winter
·
Look after
yourself, eat healthily and ensure you get
enough good quality sleep.
·
Think about
taking some supplements such as Cod Liver Oil
and Glucosamine sulphate to help your body cope
with more active times
·
Check your
walking and running shoes – is it time to
replace them or to have your bike serviced?
Now is
also a good time to think about visiting a
chiropractor for a “maintenance treatment” -
a bit like having your car serviced.
Chiropractic care can relieve pain and
discomfort, increase mobility,
provide a route to better health and
treat a wide range of problems, including
headaches, neck and shoulder problems, as well
as lower back complaints.
Chiropractic is also a
successful preventative therapy, and when used
in this way can greatly improve bodily health
and wellbeing. Many people use chiropractic as
maintenance care in order to prevent minor
problems becoming greater. The chiropractic team
at Wantage Natural Therapy Centre is skilled at
providing advice on posture, exercise and self
care as well as whole body chiropractic
treatment.
