The Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique teaches natural poise through a series of one-to-one lessons.  The teacher uses guiding touch, gentle manipulation and verbal explanation . With the Alexander Technique you can:

  • achieve good body alignment

  • eliminate pain and feel more physically comfortable

  • feel more confident

  • achieve mental balance and well-being

Who can benefit from the Alexander Technique?

Everyone can benefit from Alexander Technique lessons - you can apply what you learn to all your activities.  

Those with ailments such as back pain, neck and shoulder ache, RSI, headaches and joint problems can all be helped
. People working at computers can learn to be at ease in the use of their neck, shoulders, back and whole body thus eliminating pain and tension . People engaging in public speaking can gain ‘presence’ and confidence . Sports people can improve flexibility and efficiency , horse riders discover how good balance in themselves translates to their horse and riding skills . Musicians, dancers and actors can all apply the Alexander Technique to their performance . Pregnant women can find relief from many common complaints such as backache, indigestion, shortness of breath and fatigue.

Millie Ball

   
  Millie qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher over ten years ago, having completed the three year full-time training course in 1997.  She has known about the Technique throughout her life as her grandmother trained with one of FM Alexander’s original prodigies.  

Currently based in Wantage, Millie has taught the Alexander Technique at the Bloomsbury Alexander Centre, Chelsea Complementary and the music department of a London school.  She is a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT)
