Alexander Technique

With the Alexander technique you can …

  • achieve good body alignment
  • eliminate pain and feel more physically comfortable
  • beat stress
  • find renewed energy
  • feel more confident
  • achieve mental balance and well-being

We already notice, with growing amazement, very striking improvements in such diverse things as high blood pressure, breathing, depth of sleep, overall cheerfulness and mental alertness, resilience against outside pressures, and in such a refined skill as playing a musical instrument.’ Professor Nicholas Tinbergen, Nobel Prize winner for medicine and physiology.

Who can benefit from the Alexander Technique?

Those with ailments such as back pain, neck and shoulder ache, RSI, headaches and joint problems can all be helped. People working at computers can learn to be at ease in the use of their neck, shoulders, back and whole body thus eliminating pain and tension. Those engaging in public speaking can gain ‘presence’ and confidence. Sports men and women can improve flexibility and efficiency, horse riders discover how good balance in themselves translates to their horse and riding skills. Musicians, dancers and actors can all apply the Alexander Technique to their performance. Pregnant women can find relief from many common complaints such as backache, indigestion, shortness of breath and fatigue.

‘One-to-one lessons in the Alexander Technique from registered teachers have long term benefits for patients with chronic back pain’, British Medical Journal. (Based on scientific, randomised trials independently funded by the Medical Research Council and NHS.)
